Bramingham Dental: A Dentist in Luton who cares

At Bramingham Dentist, we pride ourselves on the level of care we give to our patients. We have over 85 years of combined experience between our dentists and we put the patient at the centre of everything that we do. We want you to feel involved in your treatment plan, offering your views every step of the way, while we explain the options and what they involve, so you can make informed decisions about your care. With a wide range of treatments available, for your teeth and face, you won’t need to go anywhere else. One of our top treatments is dental implants. We have performed over 800 dental implant procedures and they are helping patients to have the smile back that they had lost.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth. If you have lost a single tooth, several teeth or a whole set of teeth, we can use implants to revive your smile. Dental implants are metal screws that are implanted into the jaw bone. They are then the posts to which we can attach replacement teeth. Replacement teeth can be crowns, bridges or dentures, depending on how many teeth you need to replace. Crowns are used for single replacements; bridges for several and dentures for a whole set. Once these replacement teeth are attached to the screws, they won’t be going anywhere - think of it as being like ISOFIX for your mouth!

The benefits of dental implants

Choosing implants may sound like it will be a major procedure, but you can have this under local anaesthetic. You will have some healing time after the screws are fitted, while the body’s tissues fuse with the screws. During this time, you will have temporary replacement teeth fitted. After this healing period, you will have your permanent replacement teeth which are made to match any remaining natural teeth that you have. This means that your smile will be complete again and look wonderful!

Another benefit of implants is that if you have lost structure to your face due to having missing teeth, implants will prevent your face from looking shrunken. This could result in you having years taken off you as you will look more fresh faced - we love telling patients about this! Furthermore, you could be able to keep your implants for life if you look after them properly, which is easy to do: simply brush and floss twice daily, and come and see us for your routine dental checkups.

If you’re concerned that having replacement teeth means you’ll have to liquidise your food and eat soup forevermore, then fear not! You don’t have to adjust your diet at all (just remember to brush after anything too sugary!)
